Wish I could leave 0 stars for this poor, and pathetic, company that they describe themselves as "highly-trained roofers". I am not sure where to even begin with what a nightmare this experience was.
Alan came to my home and met with my dad to go over the roof to make sure we were getting what we were expected to pay for, i.e. straight from my quoted contract "*Remove existing underlayment and flashing and haul away.
*Install two layers of UDL modified 40lb tile underlayment.
*Install new anti-pond drip edge metal to eves.
*Install new flashing to all roof penetrations - required double flash
system (galvanized subflashing and aluminum primary flashing).
*Install new galvanized flashing to roof valleys and roof-to-wall
transitions.
*Re-install existing tile and replace broken as needed - to match
existing as close as possible.
*Mortar cement seal all ridges.
*Seal and paint all roof penetrations - to match color of tile.
*Clean from all debris.".
Alan's "crew" - let me describe crew...a bunch of immature, younger aged boys, that whistled and hollered at girls in our neighborhood, left my garage and side yards completely open to the public as they took their 2+ hour lunches/breaks, fall asleep on my roof, smoked pot behind my house (mind you I live in an HOA and have neighbors on all sides of me), continuously blocking my driveway and garage, yelling in Spanish at 7am in the morning disrupting all neighbors around us..anyways, back to their lack thereof roofing skills..his worker's showed that have little to no roofing experience.
They stole tiles from our roof, and then added inches to where the tiles should have laid to make sure the roof could get covered as much as possible. They didn't even nail down half the tiles, and when inspecting, my dad almost fell off the roof. They placed the tiles backwards on the roof and had broken tiles visible in all areas. The flashing they were supposed to replace, my husband caught them nailing back the old flashing, and then when caught the flashing they replaced was cut wrong and bent in all areas. My husband caught them cutting our roof paper short, and not laying over entire roof edges - rather they were just leaving our side tiles up and just pushing the paper under it...come to find out from our new roofers, our roof wasn't even waterproofed! So, if we didn't catch all of this, we would have most likely had leaks and damage to our home! My husband called Alan and he showed up to the house pissed off that we caught him, and had excuse after excuse and 0 apologies for what his workers were doing or trying to get away with. In fact, their words were “we usually don’t remove the side tiles because it is hard and they are known to break”. TOO BAD, you are roofers, and any skilled roofer would know how to do the job properly and correctly. He tried telling our contractor that all was good, and he handled the roof so that they would pay him, when in fact we had to ask him to never come back to our property, and we weren't going to pay for any of the work they did.
The clean-up was far from any. My husband did most of the clean up after finding hundreds of nails all around our property, among other trash. They left trash on our roof, that ended up blowing off, and instead of an apology Alan had an excuse. The workers used our side yard, that my husband was in the process of demoing (the roof was a small piece to our home remodel), to store their large trash bags for over a week.
If you want a roof repair/re-paper, I highly suggest you DO NOT use ARS Roofing. You will regret everything that they do.
We ended up getting a new roofer within our contract and their work blows ARS out of the water. Skilled, professional, and hard-workers! The amount of work the new company has done in 1 day, it took Alan's workers to do in 3.5 days. Lazy and unskilled should be how Alan describes his work and workers.
You don’t even have to read my review, but rather look at the pictures. They do ALL the talking. I wish I could post the video of my dad just picking up the tiles they didn't nail down!

Outstanding work. Alan and his crew were very polite, respectful, and efficient! There was (of course) rain in the middle of our roof being done and the team made sure everything was protected. Alan was up front about the possibility of added cost. There was an added cost, but it was expected. That said, the added cost was not nearly as bad as we thought it would be. By the way, the added cost was because you cannot tell the damage under old shingles until you remove them. Alan even explained how bad the existing fascia was. Overall, we found the cost to be very reasonable and the timeline quick to get it done. We are super excited to have a roof that no longer leaks and is much upgraded protection from what we had before.

Alan was working on a job down the street from us when he stopped by for a chat having noticed the poor condition of our roof... he was not wrong especially in light of the 5 gallon tub of roof patch permanently stored on my roof!
We set up an appointment for an inspection which Alan and Joseph kept punctually (They didn't make me wait). I really liked how they answered all my questions and explained all the options clearly. I also much appreciated how they had no problem splitting out the cost for each part of the project such as fascia board replacement and termite tenting so that I could understand and decide where I wanted to spend my money. They gave me a quote that clearly showed what I would be getting and how much each part would cost: When I decided to use my own termite guys they had no problem adjusting the quote. As to the start date, there were a lot of levers to pull to work this project into my busy schedule (Especially with regard to getting out during tenting!) and they had no problem waiting as I worked out the details.
Special note: At no time did anyone from ARS apply any pressure as far as when the job would start or who would do the tenting etc. When they provided options and I made my selection that was the end of the discussion: There was a special paint process they pitched for the fascia boards to resist termites but I thought it was too expensive so when I got the quote and then said "No", not another word was spoken about this. Throughout this project, from our first meeting with Alan off the street to the final day of cleanup I felt nothing but respect for my decision making process from the entire ARS team. These guys are at the top of my three decades long as a homeowner list when it comes to professional attitude and behavior.
The job started right on time on the Monday I had settled on and the ARS team told me that based on the work to be done and with some rain in the forecast the job was scheduled to complete by the following Wednesday: The last bit of cleanup happened right on schedule on Wednesday morning as promised. Even though the weather was generally good for this job, in anticipation of a bit of rain (really more like some drizzle) the crew worked late the day before after the work was done to make sure my stripped bare roof was covered so not a drop leaked through.
The crew that did the back breaking work of stripping and laying shingles and the carpenters replacing termite damaged wood and right down to the helpers on the ground sweeping up every evening were a pleasure to have on my property: They even knocked on the door when they got started early to make sure it was OK to start working.
This was a fantastic experience from start to finish, done for a good price, completed right on schedule and tested for leaks the day after they finished with a good size storm... not a leak in sight! I only wish I had more roofs to install.

Please stop looking for a roofing contractor, Alan at ARS Roofing will take great care of you! He gave a great price, clearly a professional with 24+ years experience and over-delivered on everything we discussed. I had a lot of issues beyond my roof, he corrected prior errors and all work looks great. His employees cared about their work and were well supervised. You will not regret calling ARS Roofing! I’m a very happy customer!

ARS Roofing did both my home's roof replacement and my son's home roof replacement in the fall of 2023. Alan was great to work with; honest and attentive to our requests. His crew was respectful and considerate. Alan's framers were able to slant both our flat garage roofs successfully to ensure adequate water run off - something that no one roofer has been able to do for us in the 42 years that we have lived in our home.
We appreciated ARS Roofing's attentiveness to detail. The crew started early each morning and cleaned up after themselves each night. They did it all, even color matched and painted all the new exposed wood from their job.
Now we can face the rainy winter with confidence
